TERMS & FAQS

FIND OUT MORE ABOUT OUR SERVICE HERE
  • Preparation & Vehicle Condition
Is it essential to prepare your vehicle the correct way when selling to the open market. Clean, tidy, and damage-free vehicles not only sell for better money but also make the sales process more straightforward, build confidence in potential buyers, and lead to fewer opportunities for attempted haggling and downward negotiations by potential buyers. We have relatively high expectations for the presentation of your vehicle. We will always discuss this with you upfront, with fixed costs set before handing your vehicle over to us for sale. Please note: In cases where sellers are not prepared to invest in the required preparation to bring your vehicle to a quality saleable condition, we reserve the right to refuse to sell your vehicle for you. We are very transparent with this, so upon initial evaluations of your vehicle, we will let you know what to expect - and don’t forget, the evaluation process is all no obligations - you can walk away at any point if we’re not the right service for you.
  • WOF, Servicing & Legality
It is essential to sell your vehicle in warrant of fitness condition and with an up-to-date service. If your vehicle WOF is nearing expiry, there are items that will fail a WOF or the servicing is not current, we will ask you to either permit us to arrange getting these up to date before listing (at your cost) or ask you to take care of that first. The same applies to registration and road user charges - these must be up to date before your vehicle can be listed. We are happy to take care of this, but we will require your permission and acceptance of costs.
  • Things We Need
Please provide us with all sets of keys, service history/documentation, any vehicle accessories, keys for accessories (such as roof racks) and anything else relevant to your vehicle when handing it over for the sales preparation process.
  • Sales Fees & Costs
We have three set components to our pricing structure: listing fee, preparation fee and commission upon sale. All fees are GST inclusive. The listing fee is a fixed price of $595, including GST, and covers the initial paperwork, research, collection, photography, storage and listing of your vehicle. This is payable upfront upon our collection of your vehicle (or you dropping it off to us). The preparation fee starts at $300, including GST, and may be higher depending on the vehicle's condition. This is payable within 7 days of your vehicle being listed on the open market. Both listing and preparation fees are non-refundable in the event of a vehicle not being sold. Upon a completed sale, including our handling of the sale and purchase paperwork and financial transfers, we charge an 8% flat-rate commission.
  • Sale Time Frames & Returns
We want to sell your vehicle in a reasonable time frame. In most cases, we aim to sell your vehicle within 1-4 weeks of listing. Part of our success is structuring the sale price for success by not pricing your vehicle out of the market. For vehicle sales that go longer than 30 days, we will suggest a price reduction or address any other issues that could be slowing down the sale. Please note that if we hold a vehicle for longer than 60 days without sale, we have the right to return your vehicle to you. While this is not something we aim to do; we must protect ourselves from holding stock for too long. In the case of returning your vehicle, we will always provide you with options first, but please note: listing and preparation fees are non-refundable in all circumstances.
  • Finances & Warranties
We offer both vehicle financing and mechanical warranties to interested parties looking to purchase your vehicle. We only work with trusted companies that work quickly and efficiently in our sales process. Selling under finance or with a warranty can add a few days of processing time to the sales process, but can also be the determining factor for some buyers, so we think it’s great to offer these services to potential buyers of your vehicle.
  • Inspections, Test Drives & Mechanical Checks
We will facilitate all enquiries, inspections, test drives and mechanical checks on your vehicle. We will always try to answer all enquiries without needing your intervention, but in some cases where we don’t have the correct information provided, we may ask for your input. When a potential buyer views your vehicle we will always stay with them for the whole duration of their inspection to ensure the safety of your vehicle. Test drives will only be allowed to potential buyers we pre-qualify as seriously interested, and will only be allowed if the potential buyer is 25 or older and holds a Full NZ Drivers License. If these conditions cannot be met, we will consult with you first. We will always accompany potential buyers on the test drives. If a potential buyer wants a mechanical inspection completed, this will always be at their expense, and we will take care of dropping off and picking up the vehicle from any mechanic or dealership for these inspections.
  • Ownership & Insurance
Vehicles sold on behalf remain in your name until transferred to a buyer. Please provide the full name of the owner or company, whether it is yourself, your spouse, or your business. We do not take ownership of vehicles in our business at any point in the process. We ask that you keep your insurance intact for the entirety of the process, although we do like to point out that we have business insurance to cover us as well.
  • Documentation
Upon selecting Auto Brokers as your sales on behalf solution, we will provide you with a contract of intent outlining all discussed and agreed-upon costs, vehicle details, sale details, and other associated information. We will always ensure that this is completely clear, fixed, and signed by both the vehicle seller and Auto Brokers before commencing the sales on behalf process. When we sell your vehicle, this will include a sale and purchase agreement drafted between you and the potential buyers (we take care of the creation of that document for you). This document ensures everyone is on the same page and any conditions of sale (if any) are noted.
  • How much does it cost for you to sell my vehicle?
Our fixed price structure is made up of a $595 listing fee, an 8% commission upon sale and a variable preparation fee that starts at $300. Our listing fee includes collection, research, photography, marketing and storage.
